Adding a Page to Programapedia

Programapedia features library programming and consulting from invited speakers to in-house developed programs as well as company and specific program profiles. The intent is to collect and share information for booking successful programs, as well as implementing proven programs from one library by others.

The left side of the wiki page provides three sections: navigation, search, and toolbox. Navigation provides direct links to the Main Page, several categories (Companies, Libraries, Presenters), Recent changes, and Help. The search box provides a wiki search that checks article (page) titles and contents. The toolbox includes link to pages that are useful for authors and to assist in the technical use of the wiki content.

Programapedia allows authors to use all the conventional mediawiki editing options to update and add content. However to maintain a consistency in the information collected and its presentation, four data collection forms have been created. These forms are accessed through the Special Pages link on the left side toolbox and are only available when an author has created an account and is logged into the wiki. These forms can also be accessed from the For Authors link also found on the left side toolbox.

The data collection forms on the Special Pages appear at the top of the list.

• Add Company (includes basic company information and URL/contact information, vendor products, etc.)
• Add Library (specific library informtion regarding library programming, program coordinator, facilities, and tools used to coordinate programming)
• Add Presenter (specific presenter information including contact information, special topics, fees, service area, and libraries where the presenter has provided programming)
• Add Program (specific program that is noteworthy and would be useful to share with colleagues, includes program details and electronic materials to share, as well as notes about how the program was received)

The starting form will depend upon the information you wish to share via Programapedia. It is highly recommended that you first enter your library’s information and create a wiki page for your library. ALWAYS check first to see if a page already exists for your library before creating a new page. The best way to do this is to click on Libraries in the Navigation Bar and look for your library's name.
