Add an Image
The following example shows the beginning of wiki page for the Prairie Area Library System, created using the Add Library data entry form. Notice the red text. This represents a link to a media file (a photo or image) of the library. The wiki text to support the link is automatically embedded when the wiki page is created.
To upload an image, click on the red media link. Browse to the file to upload, include a brief description of the image and click the upload file submit button. You can also mark this image “Watch this page” to monitor changes to the image.
File details are displayed for the media file uploaded.
The file details provide more information about the file, including which pages link to this media file.
Click on the linked page reference to see the image now displayed within the PALS wiki page.
Add a Document
When identifying documents to be included during the web form addition of content, the Documents & Resources section of the page reflects the external web links added and shows non-existent internal files (red links).
The example below shows the Russian Nesting Dolls web link and the internal files yet to be added, Craft Project for Nesting Dolls and Template for Face Painting.
Click on the red (non-existent) internet links to start the file upload process for the document.
The file is uploaded and the file characteristics are shown, including any wiki pages that link to the file. Notice the file comment provides the description that was entered in the file upload form. Like all wiki resources, a history of changes is maintained for all files uploaded to the wiki. Remember, if this is a file that you want to monitor, select the “Watch this page” checkbox on the file upload form. Any changes made to the file will then be automatically monitored in your watchlist.
Verify that the file you uploaded is now accessible as a link from the presenter page you added.
The link launches Microsoft Word since this file was in Word format.

IMPORTANT SECURITY NOTE: It is the responsibility of the wiki author to scan all files for viruses or malware prior to uploading them to the wiki. |
Deleting Files
Wiki authors can add files to the wiki, but they can not delete a file once it is added. To see a list of files, go to toolbox:Special Pages – File list.
Click on the file name link to see the file details. Notice the tabs available to wiki authors.
There is no tab for deleting the file. If you need to delete a file, you must contact a system operator (Sysop) to ask them to delete the file. Who is a system operator? Go to toolbox:Special Pages – User list and identify the users listed as (Sysop).
Notice that when a Sysop logs in, they have elevated privilege to protect or delete a file. A protected file locks modifications from other authors.
